Samaritans Smart Car arrives at Durham

The tour started in Birmingham on 10th July, with the car reaching Durham County Cricket Club on Sunday 11th July as part of its two week trip. The Smart Car ended its journey back in Birmingham on 24th July, after covering thousands of miles.

The Smart Car, with its striking green and white colours, is shared by all Samaritans branches throughout the UK, and could be seen out and about in a number of locations across the North East region. At 3.55pm on the Sunday afternoon, the car arrived at Emirates Durham ICG for a speedy photo shoot with the Mayor of Durham and several Durham players, before setting off on its travels again.

The tour aimed to raise awareness of Samaritans, which provides confidential emotional support to those experiencing distress or suicidal feelings. It is hoped that the Smart Car Tour will help to boost the number of enquiries made during local recruitment drives.
