Rushworth returns for 2nd XI

Chris Rushworth will return to action for the 2nd XI in the first T20 against the Unicorns at Burnopfield CC today.

The opening bowler has missed the last two Specsavers County Championship games with a muscle injury, as well as the Natwest T20 Blast defeat to Worcestershire Rapids.

He returns for Neil Killeen’s side as he steps up his workload ahead of a return to first team action.

Rushworth will be replaced by Josh Coughlin, brother of Paul, for the second of this afternoon’s matches.

The game follows yesterday’s victory by 110 runs in the Second XI Trophy fixture, a match in which Rushworth did not feature.

Batting first Durham posted 313 from their allotted 50 overs with a number of batsman passing the half-century mark.

Gordon Muchall, Calum MacLeod and the senior of the Coughlin brothers, stand-in captain Paul, all passed the mark.

In reply the Unicorns never seriously threatened to reach Durham’s score as regular wickets kept the visitors on check.

Left arm spinner Gurman Randhawa continued his good form with four wickets as they were bowled out for 203.
