Runs for Daniel Hogg, Haydon Mustard and George Drissell as Durham Second XI close with a lead of 263 on the opening day of their Championship clash with Gloucestershire.  

After electing to bat first at Hatherley & Reddings Cricket Club, Durham made their way to 126/3 at lunch from 27 overs.

Drissell then departed shortly afterwards, scoring 37 from 45 balls with seven boundaries.

Mustard shared 36 with Drissell and added 41 himself – coming off 100 deliveries including five fours, but when he departed Alan Walker’s side were 186/6.

One further wicket fell in the afternoon session before a 90-run rearguard between Hogg and Will Alexander saw Durham close in on the 300 mark.

Alexander scored 44 from 76 striking six boundaries as he and Hogg batted for 18 overs together.

Hogg took the Ds past 300 before being left stranded, reaching a 69-ball half-century having hit four fours and two maximums.

Durham were dismissed for 316 with the wickets being shared around the Gloucestershire bowlers.

The hosts made a fast start in response, adding an unbeaten 53 inside the opening 10 overs to trim their deficit down to 263.
