Royals claim win at The Rose Bowl

Captain Phil Mustard was lost early on, when he was bowled by Wood for 5.  Ben Harmison joined Michael Di Venuto and the pair put on 52 before Simon Jones had Di Venuto caught, by Adams, on 37.

Dale Benkenstein joined Harmison, who added 30 before he was caught by Christian off Briggs leaving the Dynamos 91-3.  The momentum in the middle slowed a little as the Dynamos suffered two successive run outs and the loss of Benkenstein, caught by Adams off Cork for 33, just as the side approached the ‘150 mark.

Ben Stokes added 31, with Breese and Plunkett falling in the meantime, as Durham passed the 200 mark in the penultimate over.

The Hampshire Royals openers scored quickly and put on 150 before Benkenstein made the breakthrough, dismissing Adams, who was caught by Breese on 86.  The hosts lost three wickets for 20 runs with Benkenstein claiming the scalps of Vince and McKenzie and Blackwell bowling Lumb on 75.

Unfortunately the falling wickets didn’t come early enough and the Royals hit the winning runs with overs to spare.
