Royal London One-Day Cup Fixture set for South North

South North’s ground is less than three miles from Newcastle City Centre, giving supporters who live north of the River Tyne a great opportunity to watch first class cricket closer to home.

David Harker, Group Chief Executive at Durham CCC said “This a fantastic opportunity to engage with a new audience”

“I hope that we’ll get a lot of people to the game that ordinarily might not venture into a cricket ground, but would want to come along and join in the festivities at South North”

This will be the second time that South North has hosted a first team fixture. We hope that this 2016 fixture follows the huge success of 2014 where Durham beat Warwickshire at South North, going onto win the Royal London One-Day Cup at Lords.

Marcus North, Chief Executive, of South Northumberland CC added “Everybody connected with the club is very excited to welcome Durham CCC back to South North as they take on Warwickshire CCC.

We hope that cricket supporters throughout Northumberland will come along and support Durham in this existing first class outground fixture.

This is also a great opportunity for the club to work with the local community, inviting school to participate in match day activation, meet the players and have the chance to play on the pitch at the interval.

We look forward to welcoming fans to South Northumberland this Summer”.
