Royal London Cup Fixture returns to Scarborough

Durham Cricket can confirm that the Royal London Cup Fixture against Gloucestershire on Thursday 29 July will now take place at Scarborough’s North Maine Road ground.

Originally scheduled to be played at South Northumberland the fixture has been moved to allow Durham’s participation in the Scarborough five counties cricket week, an agreement which was initially signed for the 2020 season but subsequently postponed due to the Coronavirus pandemic.

As the Gloucestershire fixture was originally pencilled in to take place at South Northumberland Cricket Club, the annual “South North” game will now see us play Lancashire in Gosforth on Thursday 5 August.

Durham Cricket Chief Executive, Tim Bostock, said: “We originally agreed to take part in the Scarborough five counties cricket week in 2020 as Emirates Riverside was required for some major concerts. As the fixture was postponed due to the ongoing pandemic, we felt that we should honour our agreement with Scarborough in 2021. The fixture will help support the five counties cricket week and bring in much needed revenues for both Clubs following a difficult year. We want to make this a day for our members to look forward to and we have ensured that they can attend as part of their membership and travel free of charge on club arranged transport if they wish. We do expect a number of members to stay over and enjoy the rest of the festival as many had planned to do in 2020.”

Durham Cricket will be organising transportation from Emirates Riverside direct to North Marine Road. Details of how to book your place will be announced in the coming weeks.

We advise anyone wishing to stay in Scarborough to book accommodation immediately as hotel accommodation will be limited due to demand for the fixtures.

Durham and Scarborough members have free admittance to all parts of the ground with access to the pavilion. Tickets are also available for non-members, with tickets purchased in advance priced at £12, and on the gate at £15. Under 16s are free if accompanied by an adult. Advanced tickets can be purchased on 01723 365625 from Monday 8 March.

Scarborough Cricket Club do not operate a reserved seating service so there is no requirement for members to book their seats in advance.
