Rachin Ravindra signs for Worcestershire County Championship fixture

New Zealand international batter Rachin Ravindra has joined Durham ahead of their LV=Insurance County Championship fixture against Worcestershire at Seat Unique Riverside.

The left-hand batter joins as cover for Keegan Petersen and will represent Durham for one game having been released from New Zealand’s squad.

The 22-year-old made his Test debut for the Black Caps in November against India and has played three games for this country since his maiden Test appearance in Kanpur.

Ravindra has played 35 First-class games which includes a career best 144* for New Zealand A against West Indies A.

He has 34 First-class wickets with his slow left-arm orthodox bowling having claimed career best figures of 6/89 which also came against West Indies A.

Durham Director of Cricket, Marcus North said: “Rachin is a talented all-rounder and we are looking forward to having him join us for this week’s County Championship fixture.

“We currently have 4 players on England duty, which is great for Durham, but we are also suffering with some injuries therefore it is great to have been able to bring in Rachin to cover during this red ball period.”
