Brydon Carse
What a season Brydon Carse has had with the ball, rounding off his summer with career best figures of 6/26 against Middlesex at Lord’s, helping Durham secure victory in London. It was no surprise when Middlesex won the toss and inserted Durham into bat with cloud cover expected throughout the fixture. Durham set Middlesex 196 to win and it was Brydon Carse who guided Durham to victory inside three days. The South-African born seamer took 6-26 including his match-winning post-lunch burst of 5-9 as Durham bowled out the hosts for 151 to win by 44 runs.
Chris Rushworth
Chris Rushworth closed the 2019 season as the Specsavers County Championship Division 2 leading wicket taker, having claimed 69 wickets throughout the campaign. It was in September that Rushworth picked up a milestone in his cricketing career when he claimed 5/68 against Northants at Wantage Road, his 25th first class five-for, adding to his career tally of 494 wickets.
BJ Watling
It was a home debut to remember for BJ Watling who scored an unbeaten 103 against Glamorgan in Durham’s final Specsavers County Championship match of the season. Watling who joined Durham for the final two games of the season, enjoyed his time in the middle for the Ds at Emirates Riverside, albeit a game which was abandoned on day four, with just 86.4 overs bowled. Watling faced 207 balls, hitting 10 fours in his century, including a crafty uppercut shot while in the 90s.
Ben Raine
Ben Raine claimed 14 wickets in the County Championship in September, to round the summer off with 54 championship wickets. His most impressive bowling spell came against Middlesex with 5/26 from 12 overs, heavily contributing to Durham’s win in London. Raine picked up the key wicket in the Middlesex innings, pinning Dawid Malan, the Middlesex skipper LBW for 24. In the second innings, Raine again struck, dismissing Malan and Max Holden LBW. In the Championship against Northampton at Wantage Road, Raine picked up seven wickets, with 4/93 and 3/53.
