Player of the Month – June 2019

June was a good month for Durham Cricket with two wins and a draw from our three Specsavers County Championship season.

Which means there is a plethora of candidates for the June Player of the Month award and we’ve picked four potential winners for you to vote for.

Alex Lees

Alex Lees has shone at the top of the batting order over the last month, notching 107 against Derbyshire at the Emirates Riverside  and 143 against Sussex at Hove – with an additional half century in the first innings against Derbyshire.

He’s tallied 313 runs at an average of 78.25 in the three matches in June – and averaged 125 in the second innings helping lift Durham of the foot of the table.

Ben Raine

Ben Raine recorded career best figures in the second innings against Sussex of 6/29 as Durham secured a 196-run victory at Hove.

In total Raine took 14 wickets in June and contributed a knock of 82 in the rain-effected game against Northamptonshire.

Ned Eckersley

Ned Eckersley notched his maiden first-class century for the county in win at Sussex, putting on a partnership of 282 with skipper Cameron Bancroft in a vital first innings partnership.

The wicketkeeper averaged 74 in June and amassed 222 runs in four innings with a century and a 50.

Chris Rushworth

And finally, Chris Rushworth once again proved to be one of the best bowlers in county cricket with 14 wickets in June.

With a handy knack of taking wickets in the first over of the innings, Rushy contributed at least two wickets in five of the six innings in the month.
