Parkinson, Killeen and McAlindon added to 14 player squad for Derbyshire at home

Durham are back on home soil tomorrow when they host Derbyshire in their fourth LV=Insurance County Championship game of the season.

Ryan Campbell has named a 14 player-squad for the visit of Derbyshire which includes three additions to the squad.

Rookie contracted players Mitchell Killeen and Stanley McAlindon are in the 14, while new loan signing Matt Parkinson is in line to make his Durham first-class debut.

Parkinson’s arrival to Durham comes following the back injury sustained by Matt Kuhnemann during last week’s game against Glamorgan. Matt Kuhnemann will continue to be assessed by the Durham medical team and a further update will follow

Campbell’s side go into the Derbyshire game on the back of a dominant performance against Glamorgan at Sophia Gardens with the weather stalling Durham chances of victory in Wales.

Durham currently sit top of the Division 2 table with 40 points having won one, lost one and drew one and face a Derbyshire side who are currently bottom of the division having played just the two games.

The Midlands side lost their opening game of the season against Worcestershire and drew their second game against Leicestershire in a rain affected clash.

Words from Ryan Campbell

I know this sounds a cliché, but we are about trying to get better every game and from where we have been to where we are now, we are on the right track. I think we are playing really positive cricket and we are seeming to be at the driving wheel of most of the games we have played in. That is what we are striving to do, the batters are getting in and making scores and giving the bowlers enough time to take wickets and our bowling attack has been pretty good so far. And when you think Potts will come in next game [tomorrow] and we will have to tinker a bit to get him, so we are in a pretty good spot.

We knew that probably our bowling depth is one of our strengths, I think we still have a lot more to deliver. Trevaskis came into the team last week [against Glamorgan] as the all-rounder and did a great job with the bat but we had probably always chosen a medium pacer who has done that role. So, with Bas de Leede and Bushnell still out injured there is still something there to be had.

Squad v Derbyshire (27-30 April)

David Bedingham, Scott Borthwick*, Brydon Carse, Graham Clark, Paul Coughlin, Michael Jones, Alex Lees (vc), Stanley McAlindon, Matt Parkinson, Matthew Potts, Ben Raine, Ollie Robinson+, Liam Trevaskis, Mitchell Killeen
