Next up for Durham, Gloucestershire (A) at Seat Unique Stadium

Durham head from one Seat Unique Stadium to another tomorrow when they take on Gloucestershire at Bristol.

Ryan Campbell’s side go into tomorrow’s fixture sitting in top spot, following Durham’s thrilling win over Yorkshire at Seat Unique Riverside last week.

A 13-player squad has been named for Durham’s trip to the South West with Paul Coughlin returning to the side as a replacement for Brydon Carse who sustained a trunk injury when fielding against Yorkshire.

George Drissell is also added to the fold and if selected could play against his former county – a club where he made 7 first-class appearances for and progressed through the Gloucestershire Academy.

Durham are in a healthy position at the top of the Division 2 table with 82 points, 18 points ahead of second place Sussex who have 64 points.

Gloucestershire have had a mixed start to the season with 4 draws and one no result. Their season has been heavily affected by the weather which included an abandonment without a ball bowled against Yorkshire at Seat Unique Stadium.

Words from Ryan Campbell

There is a belief now in the group that we are starting to be a really good team, I think the style which we won against Yorkshire is more about character than the way we played.

To be honest against Yorkshire we played pretty poorly but sometimes in sport it is more about character than ability and this team needs to know that we have great character. We are in a really good position, but we have gone from the hunter to now the hunted and everyone is looking at us about how we are playing.

Gloucester will be a good opportunity to go down and really put them to the sword and we will see what they will come up with. We are going to go to Gloucestershire with the same opportunity to win, hopefully the weather is fine and we can have another cracking game of cricket.

Squad v Gloucestershire (18-21 May)

David Bedingham, Scott Borthwick*, Graham Clark, Paul Coughlin, Bas de Leede, George Drissell, Michael Jones, Alex Lees (vc), Stanley McAlindon,  Ajaz Patel, Matthew Potts, Ben Raine, Ollie Robinson+
