Ned makes back-to-back tons

Durham 2nd XI  (318/7; Eckersley 108, Smith 61) beat Leeds Bradford MCCU (222; Coughlin 2/29) by 96 runs

Ned Eckersley scored his second century of the week to hand Durham’s 2nd XI victory over Leeds Bradford MCCU in the 50-over friendly at Weetwood.

Off the back of three figures against Scotland, Eckersley hit 108 off 121 balls as Durham scored 318/7.

The wickets were shared between no fewer than seven bowlers as the University fell well short in their reply.

Eckersley provided the backbone to the innings, ably assisted by Ryan Pringle (48) & trialist Fin Trenouth.

Will Smith added the late firepower from number six, smashing 61 off 34 balls to bump Durham’s total past 300.

In reply, opening bowlers Josh Coughlin & Oliver Gibson delivered tight spells & regular wickets therein ensured they never looked likely to chase the total down.

The Seconds are back in action next week when they take on Leicestershire at the Fischer County Ground.
