Nathan Sowter joins Durham for 2023 season

Durham Cricket is delighted to announce the signing of Nathan Sowter ahead of the 2023 season.

The 30-year-old joins Durham on a 1-year-deal having joined on loan from Middlesex midway through the 2022 Vitality Blast campaign.

Leg-spinner Sowter, spent 7 years at Middlesex becoming their third all-time leading wicket taker in white ball cricket making 93 appearances in limited overs cricket for the club.

While he also went onto make 13 First-class appearances for Middlesex.

Sowter, who has family links in the North East, made 7 T20 Blast appearances for Durham in 2022 picking up 8 wickets with a best of 3/22 on debut over Lancashire Lightning.

The leg-break bowler also stood out with his outstanding boundary catching taking two stunners against Notts Outlaws.

Sowter will be available for the Royal London Cup in 2023 depending on selection for the Hundred, having been part of the Oval Invincibles squad since 2020.

On arriving at Durham Sowter said: “I am really excited for this opportunity to come back to Durham after a short loan spell last season.

I am looking forward to making an impact and contributing to success on the pitch with Durham.”
