Migael Pretorius in line to make Durham first-class debut against Gloucestershire

Attention returns to red ball cricket and the County Championship as Durham take on Gloucestershire tomorrow at Seat Unique Riverside (11am)

With three huge County Championship games coming up in July, Durham will look to extend their lead at the top of the Division 2 table and that starts this week against Dale Benkenstein’s side.

Ryan Campbell has named a 14-player squad with new overseas signing Migael Pretorius in line to make his Durham first-class debut.

Bas de Leede is back in the fold having been on international duty with the Netherlands and returns to Durham squad having guided the Netherlands to qualification for the World Cup with 123 and 5/52 over Scotland earlier this week.

Raymond Toole who joined the club on a short-term loan for the Leicestershire fixture last time out has returned back to his club side Shotley Bridge, having filled in as overseas cover.

Durham occupy the top spot in Division 2 with 131 points and will be looking to build on their positive start to the season against a Gloucestershire side who are seventh in the division with 60 points.

Campbell’s side last took on Gloucestershire in May, a match where Graham Clark scored his first Durham 100 in six years and Ajaz Patel took 10 wickets in the match to spin Durham to a 125-run victory.

Words from Ryan Campbell

We are thrilled to have signed Migael, the facts are with the injuries we have had this season to key components of our attack we have had to re-think and reassess.

I think everyone will be really excited to watch him, he is a fast bowler who charges in, his numbers are pretty impressive in South Africa, more than handy with the bat and I think he is going to really compliment our attack.

Having Matthew Potts back for this game is a huge inclusion for us, obviously we are disappointed he has missed out on playing for England but the only way he can get back into doing that for England is to take wickets for us.

The guys had a few days off after a hectic T20 season, but they’ve been in for a couple days and working hard so we are now all really looking forward to Monday and the start of an exciting month in the Championship.
