Members Book Sale – Monday 16 August

Mr. Craig, who died in December 2009, amassed a large collection of 846 cricket books and 10,000 photographs throughout his life, taking inspiration from the likes of Hutton, Bradman, May or Percy Chapman back to his own Belmont Cricket Club in County Durham. Having made his cricketing debut in 1984, he captained Belmont for some seasons in the late 80s and early 90s and had a fine understanding of the game. He always knew exactly what he wanted in terms of strategy and tactics in the field, and despite limiting himself to one side of the wicket, Colin scored lots of runs for Belmont CC and carried his bat through an innings at least twice.

The Durham County Cricket Foundation aims to provide inspiration, motivation and raised self-esteem to the local community through the power of sport. All money raised from the sale will be used to deliver community programmes within the areas of County Durham, Northumberland, Cumbria and Teeside. Books will be available to purchase on all four possible days of the match, priced from £1 to £3, unless they sell out early.

Those who played cricket with Colin hope that you will enjoy his books as much as he did.
