Durham Cricket are thrilled to announce that Luke Robinson has signed his first professional deal.
A product of the Durham Cricket Academy, Robinson has signed professional terms running until at least the end of the 2028 season.
The 22-year-old quick enjoyed a breakthrough season in 2026, having made his first-class debut for Durham at Lord’s before taking career best figures during the Metro Bank One Day Cup.
Robinson became the first County Championship debutant under the injury replacement ruling – replacing Kemar Roach, dismissing Toby Roland-Jones lbw for his maiden first-class wicket.
After one further red ball appearance at New Road, the Sunderland-born cricketer started the 50-over competition strongly claiming his professional best returns of 3/44 against Derbyshire Falcons in Derby.
Robinson went on to take 14 wickets in the List A tournament, forming a key part of the Durham attack with the second highest wicket tally on the way to the semi-finals.
His breakthrough season saw him named Durham’s Rising Star at the counties end of season Annual Awards night – progressing from a rookie deal into a professional deal.
Robinson said: “I’m over the moon to be signing another contract with Durham.
“This club has been my home for my career so far and I wouldn’t want it any other way.
“I thoroughly enjoyed the 2026 season and can’t wait to hit the ground running back in Division One and help bring some more silverware home for Durham.”
Director of Cricket and High-Performance Coaching Ryan Campbell said: “We are really pleased that Luke has signed a new contract with us, which keeps him in Chester le Street for another couple of years.
“We have seen this year how much of an exciting prospect he is with the ball and his performances in the Metro Bank One Day Cup and the County Championship demonstrate this.
“He had an excellent 50 over campaign and we saw glimpses of what he can offer to the team with a red ball too, he has genuine pace which is exciting to see.
“We will work closely with Luke over this winter as his game continues to develop and we look forward to seeing him continue to grow as a Durham Cricketer into next season and beyond.”
