Luke Robinson signs Durham Academy contract

Durham Cricket are pleased to announce Luke Robinson has signed an Academy contract following an impressive start to the summer.

The right-arm fast bowler who is a product of Philadelphia Cricket Club has been a regular member of the Durham County Age Group programme and currently studies at Park View Academy of Sport on site at the Riverside.

Having impressed Academy Director John Windows during the winter and in early season Academy friendlies, Windows has added Luke to his 13 player academy intake.

Windows said: “Luke has impressed us very much over recent months and his work rate and performances  have earned him a place on the Academy intake for this year, we look forward to seeing his progress over the season.”

Ash Thorpe, Luke’s coach at Park View Academy of Sport, said: “It’s a great result for us as a programme and personally I’m thrilled for Luke who has worked extremely hard over the winter to put himself in a position to be added to Durhams academy system.

“Working along side the Durham academy has been a huge advantage for Luke and other players at Park View. Players develop at different rates but working closely with John and the coaching team our players are always in the shop window, they just need to be ready to grab an opportunity when it presents itself.

Having signed his first Academy contract Luke the 18-year-old added: “It’s a pleasure to have joined the Academy, this has always been the aim, so it nice to have been asked to join for this year. Being part of Park View Academy has really helped, as I have been here constantly working with Ash while on site at the Riverside.
