Leah Dobson added to 14 player squad as Durham host Hampshire

After a washout on Thursday against Warwickshire, Durham Women return to action on home soil tomorrow [10:30am] , when they host high flyers Hampshire at Banks Homes Riverside.

Dani Hazell has named a squad of 14 as Durham look to remain in contention for the knockout stages of the Metro Bank 50 over competition, with Leah Dobson the only addition from the squad which travelled to the Midlands.

With no play possible on Thursday, Hazell’s side return to List A action for the first time since their commanding 105-run win over Somerset at the Cooper Associates County Ground in July.

Durham picked up their fifth win of the tournament when they last took to the field in Taunton and remain in the hunt for a top four spot ahead of match number 12 tomorrow.

Hazell’s side sit fifth in the table with five wins and five defeats with 26 points and face a Hampshire side who are top of the group with 36 points from their 11 games.

Durham go into the game without an overseas player following the completion of Suzie Bates stint with the Club as the Kiwi International has returned home ahead of the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup later this month.

Hollie Armitage leads the way for Durham with 498 runs, with Phoebe Turner top of the wicket taking tally with 21 poles.

Words from Dani Hazell

We had two great wins over Lancashire and Somerset before the block for the Hundred but it was disappointing to be washed out on Thursday without a ball bowled.

Everyone is looking forward to playing back in Chester Le Street and putting in a strong showing in front of our home fans.

It was important that we went into final four games with something to play for and still be in the hunt for the knockout stages going into the final month of the season.

The majority of the group have been at the Hundred and the girls who weren’t involved have been in practice along with a few loan matches in tier 2 – so they should all be up to speed.

We have had a good few days back training and everyone is raring to go tomorrow, we look forward to putting a performance in.
