Durham face Lancashire in the 2XI Championship at County Ground, Chester le Street this week (11-13 May).  It was an eventful first day with  21 wickets falling and play finishing at 8:05pm following numerous rain interruptions during the day.

Durham were bowled out for 157 in 49.4 overs after winning the toss and electing to bat, with Mark Stoneman (20) and Gareth Breese (33) the main contributors.  Newby 5-50 from 17 overs & Montgomery 4-43 from 15.4 overs put in the best bowling performances for Lancashire.

In reply, the visitors were then bowled out for 127 in 29.4 overs with Cross making 60 and Parry 30. Luke Evans picked up 3-45 from 10 overs, Jamie Harrison 4-26 from 8 overs and Mark Wood 3-28 from 6.4 overs.

Newby to dismissed Stoneman for the 2nd time in the day for 5 in the 7 overs Durham faced so far in their 2nd innings, with Karl Turner 8* and Gordon Muchall 5* taking Durham to 23-1 at the close.
