Result: Lancashire 2nd XI (352/4d; Guest 133, Chanderpaul 111*; Main 2/53) beat Durham 2nd XI (128 & 193; Trevaskis 56) by an innings & 31 runs
Durham’s second string crashed to an innings defeat at the hands of a strong Lancashire side after the Red Rose swept up the remaining wickets early on Day Three.
Hundreds for Brooke Guest & Shiv Chanderpaul put the visitors firmly in control on Day Two before a declaration paved the way for quick wickets to close out the day.
A rearguard 56 from Liam Trevaskis, which came off 167 balls, helped to keep the visitors at bay but a lack of support ensured they came out on top in the end.
None of the top seven, aside from Trevaskis, were able to make it into the twenties & the total was boosted slightly by 24 from Ben Whitehead & 21 from Johnny Read.
But Neil Killeen’s side were well beaten & will look to make amends next week when they travel to Kidderminster to face Worcestershire.

Lancashire’s second string closed ahead by 36 runs after Durham were bowled out for 128 on the first day of the Second XI Championship match at Emirates Riverside.
The visitors took full advantage of conditions after electing to bowl first, reducing the Seconds to 5/3 inside eight overs.
Left-arm seamer Toby Lester did the early damage before fellow seamer Danny Lamb took 5/37 to finish off the innings, but not before Scott Steel’s unbeaten 42 offered some resistance.
It was a continuation of a purple patch for Steel, who scored a century during the previous Championship encounter with Nottinghamshire.
He received support from captain Brydon Carse & Josh Coughlin, who made 28 apiece.
Though the visitors finished on top thanks to an unbroken stand between wicketkeeper Brooke Guest & former Durham man Shiv Chanderpaul, Durham’s bowlers stuck to their task & gained three wickets for their efforts.
Josh Coughlin trapped Tyler McGladdery LBW, Gavin Main had Lamb caught behind flashing at a wide one & Calum Turner flicked a leg side Chris McBride delivery to the wicketkeeper.
