Durham Second XI 153/4 beat Yorkshire Second XI 131/9
Wilf La Fontaine-Jackson scores 66, backed up a pair of wickets each for Paul Coughlin and Codi Yusuf as Durham Second XI beat Yorkshire Second XI by 22 runs at Harrogate.
Led by Scott Borthwick, the visitors chose to bat first and got off to a positive start, putting on a 63-run first wicket stand.
Luke Symington was narrowly run out by Joseph Pocklington for 26 at the end of the ninth over but Alan Walker’s side continued to go well as La Fontaine-Jackson and Haydon Mustard put on 38 together.
La Fontaine-Jackson went to his half-century from 42 deliveries in the over before Mustard was caught in the deep off Bradley Sylvester for 20.
The Durham UCCE batter made 66 before he was stumped off Yash Vagadia’s bowling in the 18th with the Ds on 123. Mitchell Killeen made a brisk unbeaten 20 as Durham went on to post 153 for four.
The Tykes lost three early wickets in response as Yusuf struck twice, either side of Noah Kelly dragging on to Sam Conners. The White Rose countered with a partnership of 56 as they recovered from 29 for three.
Vagadia led the way with 61 from 37 balls but was caught at the end of the 12th, the over before Borthwick had Tom Fraine lbw with Yorkshire 86 for five.
Durham continued to pick up wickets as Coughlin dismissed Pocklington before two wickets fell in Minto’s following over, including a run out.
Durham claimed another as Sylvester was caught on the final ball with his side 22 runs short.
