JFC round off season with a BBQ

This was a great way to round off the cricket season for all in attendance. Many of the Durham players came along with Captain Phil Mustard, Dale Benkenstein, Michael Di Venuto, Chris Rushworth, Ben Harmison, Ruel Brathwaite, Mark Stoneman, Gareth Breese and Callum Thorp all on hand for photos and autographs.

The only place to start with a barbeque was the food, with the cooler end of season conditions everyone headed into Austins Bistro for burgers and hot-dogs. After Chester’s sports quiz, everyone braved the cold  to watch the end of the third days play as Durham took on Somerset in the LV=County Championship.

As the players came off the field, Chester, along with the Fan Club went on the pitch for a game of kwik cricket. They were soon joined by Luke Evans who showed off some hidden wicketkeeping talent! And Liam Plunkett who took over the bowling, much to Chester’s dismay as he took one on the chest from Durham’s opening quick.

After the cricket, Luke and Liam joined the fan club in Austins, where everyone was given a Durham poster for some autographs and photos with their cricketing heroes. Then came the quiz results, where the winners took home a Durham t-shirt, The raffle was a great way to finish off the night. There were some great prizes on offer including a one of the first limited edition Durham monopoly games, a bat signed by the entire Durham squad and Mark Stoneman’s signed FPt20 shirt.

A tremendous night as had by all, this was a perfect way to round off the cricket season for all Junior Fan Club members.
