James Franklin names unchanged squad of 13 for Worcestershire fixture

Durham Cricket Lead High Performance Coach James Franklin has named an unchanged squad of 13 for Durham’s LV Insurance County Championship match against Worcestershire at New Road, which gets underway on Thursday.

Durham head back on the road tomorrow, following defeat to Essex last time out, and have slipped to 5th place in the group 1 table, but are still right in contention with just 19 points separating Durham and Nottinghamshire in top spot.

Worcestershire enjoyed an innings and 23 run win over Derbyshire on Sunday and go into the game tomorrow with 94 points, having played a game extra than Durham.

Durham lead the way with both the countries leading run scorer and wicket taker, David Bedingham remaining in top spot with 666 runs, while Chris Rushworth’s five wickets in the Essex games saw him overtake Craig Overton with 37 wickets as the countries leading wicket taker.

Squad (3-6 June)

Cameron Bancroft, David Bedingham, Scott Borthwick (C), Jack Burnham, Brydon Carse, Ned Eckersley (wkt), Michael Jones, Alex Lees, Matthew Potts, Liam Trevaskis, Ben Raine, Chris Rushworth, Matt Salisbury

Words from the Head Coach

“Last week’s game in now parked in last week’s history books. The boys have had a great chance to get away from cricket with the nice weather and spend time with their friends and families.

“We’ve got back into training from Tuesday and it’s been good, we’re sat for a great 4 days of cricket with the nice weather.

“It was crazy last week, it was a combination of a few factors, the wicket itself meant bowlers would bowl straight and LBWs came into play, then there was some poor batting on display from both sides. An excellent partnership and a brilliant innings from Pepper was the difference.

“In terms of the game, we’re in a really tight group – there’s no pressure to win, we’re not getting carried away, we’ve played some really good cricket and we’ve just got to look after our own process.”
