James Franklin names squad of 14 for Nottinghamshire clash

Durham Cricket Lead High Performance Coach James Franklin has named a 14 player squad for tomorrow’s County Championship fixture at home to Nottinghamshire.

Durham are straight back to action at the Riverside following last weeks draw against Leicestershire with Durham currently in second spot in the Division 2 table and face a Nottinghamshire side one place below them in third.

James Franklin has named a 14 player squad for this weeks fixture which sees the return of Matt Salisbury to the first team squad for the first time this summer – Salisbury claimed 6 wickets against Hampshire Seconds last week.

Right arm off-spinner George Drissell could make his First-class debut for Durham  this week having been added to the squad – the 23-year-old joined Durham from Somerset during the winter and if selected would play in the 8th First-class game of his career.

Having dropped out of the squad last week ahead of the Leicestershire game Paul Coughlin is not fit for selection following an abdominal injury, while Alex Lees is included in the 14 player squad having not played last week.

Brydon Carse continues to recover well from the injury he sustained in Australia and returned to action with the Seconds against Hampshire last week, while also playing for North East Premier League side Burnopfield on Saturday.

Durham last played Nottinghamshire at the Riverside in July of last summer.  Durham were set a chase of 381 on the final day after bowling Notts out for 217 in their second innings. The hosts’ hopes of forcing a victory were slim to say the least, and they opted to bat out the day for the draw, with day 2 being washed out completely.

Words from Keegan Petersen

I am really looking forward to the game tomorrow and continuing to find my feet in the team. First and foremost I am hoping to do well this week, that is the reason I am here at Durham, so hopefully I can contribute to a win in someway over the next few days. I think the squad is in a really good place and that is shown in the vibe around the squad. We are looking forward to tomorrow.
