Haydon Mustard stars with a century, Drissell & Alexander help South North into ECB National Championship quarter finals: League Roundup

With the North East Premier League and North Yorkshire South Durham Leagues underway, Durham Cricket will continue to provide weekly updates when Durham players are in action. 

Haydon Mustard starred with a fine century for Shotley Bridge as they chased down a mammoth 286 to win against Chester-le-Street at The Spa Grounds. Mustard led the chase for the hosts, striking 11 fours and two sixes as he made 107 from 118 balls. He was dismissed leaving the Bridge 227/3 before Reece Carr and Daniel Anderson teed off to secure victory by six wickets.

Callum Gaffney made 38 from 44 in Chester-le-Street’s innings featuring seven fours as the visitors declared on 285/5 after 53 overs.

George Drissell and Will Alexander helped South Northumberland into the quarter finals of the ECB National Club Championship. Alexander claimed two wickets against York as South North limited their visitors 194/7 in 40 overs at Roseworth Terrace. Drissell then made 56 from 74 with seven boundaries as he shared a stand of 105 with Solomon Bell as the hosts made their way to an eight wicket win with 2.5 overs remaining.

Scott Borthwick claimed a pair of wickets before hitting a rapid 29* in Hartlepool’s nine wicket victory over Bishop Auckland. After taking 2/51 in restricting the hosts to 191/7 from 50 overs, Borthwick struck 29 not out from just 11 balls to fire Hartlepool to a dominant victory, with Wilf La Fontaine-Jackson scoring an unbeaten 63.

George Drissell claimed 2/21 in South Northumberland’s heavy defeat to Castle Eden on Saturday. South North were dismissed for just 91 at Roseworth Terrace before the visitors knocked off their total just three wickets down.
