Harriet Robson scores 111 as Durham Women’s Academy edge past Somerset by one wicket in their three-day encounter at Taunton Vale Sports Club.
Somerset made the most of their decision to bat under blue skies at, scoring 350/7 before declaring in the final session of day one.
Laila Moledina top scored with 132 for the Wyverns featuring 22 boundaries, backed up by 79 for Jazz Westley and 67 for Ruby Davis whilst the seven wickets were shared around the Durham bowlers with two run outs.
Harriet Robson scored 111 from just 129 balls including 21 fours and one six as Durham made a strong response with contributions also coming from Emma Thompson (63) Trudy Johnson (41) and Ava Broady (32*).
The visitors made their way into the lead by 31 runs in Taunton as Somerset dismissed Durham for 381 with Olivia Barnes (3/67) the pick of the bowlers.
Somerset were going well at 91 for two but three wickets in five balls had the hosts in a spot of bother at 91/5. Lilly-Mai Taylor then claimed four of the final five wickets, taking 4/30 as the hosts were bowled out for 180 after lunch on day three.
Durham lost Emma Thompson early in their chase but Robson (32) and Emily Whiting (30) shared 61 before both were bounced out by Willis, leaving the Ds 98/3 in their pursuit of 150.
Trudy Johnson made a run-a-ball 34 as the 18-year-old guided the visitors to within 10 runs of victory before becoming the second of Jess Westley’s four victims.
Durham went on to lose four wickets inside ten balls whilst requiring just three runs to win as Westley and Lola Harris claimed two wickets apiece to leave Durham 147/9, eventually squeezing through by one wicket against Somerset.
