Faizan Ghumman and Stanley McAlindon were in the runs for Tynemouth in their four-wicket defeat to Hetton Lyons at Preston Avenue. Opening the batting, Academy batter Ghumman top scored with 71 from 105 deliveries featuring seven boundaries before McAlindon’s unbeaten 52 from 30 balls helped the hosts to 261/6, eventually losing out to the Lyons by four wickets.
Academy seamer Brett Hutchinson took two wickets for Chester le Street in their 96-run reverse against Ashington at Ropery Lane. Hutchinson claimed 2/49, taking a pair of key scalps as the visiting side made 233/9 before dismissing the hosts for 137.
Academy all-rounder Luke Symington made 50 for Norton with James Minto and Teddy Minto also in the wickets in a three-wicket defeat to Stokesley. Symington made a 58-ball half-century with six fours and two maximums as the hosts started strongly before being bowled out for 134.
James Minto took 2/23 in response, with younger brother Teddy the pick of the bowlers claiming 3/38 as the visitors reached their target with three wickets in hand.
