Future Internationals at Riverside Confirmed

It’s a major coup to welcome India to the region and to once again host Australia and the West Indies, which will surely provide sports fans from across the North East with some really entertaining, top class cricket.

In addition to being awarded three ODI’s, England will also face Zimbabwe in a Test Match in 2009 at Riverside.

Riverside has also been selected as the venue for another major event, the popular domestic Twenty20 Cup Finals Day in 2011, which will see spectators from all over the country travel to support the four finalists of the competition.

Durham County Cricket Club Chairman, Clive W Leach CBE, said, “We’re thrilled that three top class one day sides will be visiting Riverside in the next three years.  Australia, the West Indies and India are all forces in one day cricket and I’m sure supporters in the North East will provide great support for these explosive fixtures.  To be awarded the showpiece of the domestic Twenty20 Cup is a huge honour, we’re really looking forward to it and we fully expect to see Durham as one of the finalists!”

Durham CCC Chief Executive, David Harker, said, “Riverside continues to successfully host world class events and these events will provide us with further opportunities to demonstrate our undoubted ability to produce a memorable experience for players and spectators.”
