Day 3: Durham Second XI 313ao & 246/7dec vs Yorkshire Second XI 277/7dec & 285/5
Scott Borthwick made 83 as Durham Second XI set Yorkshire Second XI 283 to win on the final day, falling to defeat by five wickets in Scarborough despite Daniel Hogg claiming figures of 2/28.
Resuming on 122 for one, Scott Borthwick and Faizan Ghumman added a further 35 runs for the second wicket, recording a stand of 140.
Borthwick was dismissed on 83 and Ghumman scored 53 but both fell in quick succession as the visitors were reduced to 172 for four.
Durham continued to lose regular wickets with Robbie Bowman scoring 30 and Daniel Hogg making an unbeaten 25. Alan Walker’s side declared on 246/7, setting Yorkshire a target of 283 to win.
Noah Kelly and Will Luxton shared a 39-run partnership before Hogg and Minto produced two quick-fire wickets, leaving the hosts 44 for two.
After a third wicket stand of 36, Luke Robinson joined in on the action, having Jawad Akhtar caught behind for 22.
Hogg bowled Matt Milnes for 32, disrupting a partnership of 66 but the White Rose were halfway to their target.
Sam Conners had Jafer Chohan caught behind shortly after with Yorkshire on 171 but a 114-run stand between Luxton and Khan brought Yorkshire to a five-wicket victory.
Luxton made an unbeaten 127 from 133 deliveries with Khan producing a 44-ball 51 alongside him. Hogg ended with figures of 2/28 in eight overs.
Day 2: Durham Second XI 313ao & 122/1 vs Yorkshire Second XI 277/7dec
Yorkshire made their way to 277 for seven before declaring 36 runs shy of Durham’s 313 attempting to set up a result.
James Minto ended with figures of 3/38 as Luke Robinson, Brett Hutchinson, Mitchell Killeen and Scott Borthwick all claimed one wicket apiece.
The Ds could not have wished for much better in response, closing out day two on 122/1 from 32 overs with a 158-run lead.
Day 1: Durham Second XI 313ao v Yorkshire Second XI 64/2
Faizan Ghumman, Stanley McAlindon and Sam Conners all hit half-centuries as Durham Second XI ended a positive opening day against Yorkshire Second XI with a lead of 249 runs.
On the first day of the three-day friendly, Noah Kelly won the toss for the hosts, inserting Durham in to bat. Ghumman made his way to another fifty for the Seconds in in 67 balls featuring 12 fours.
The hosts claimed regular wickets at the other end and by the time Ghumman was out on 59, Durham were 124 for four.
Mitchell Killeen scored 35 before he was the first of three quick dismissals as the D’s were reduced to 160 for seven.
McAlindon led the recovery as he made 51 from 76 deliveries, sharing stands worth exactly 50 with Daniel Hogg and Conners.
Conners then put his foot down to reach 65 at a run-a-ball, scoring 41 in 33 balls in a partnership worth 53 with Luke Robinson.
Durham were dismissed for 313 at North Marine Road. Louis Backhouse shone with the ball for the White Rose as he took figures of 4/59.
Conners returned to bowling action, taking the new ball with Killeen but it was James Minto who removed the hosts’ opening pair, seeing off Kelly and Will Luxton as Yorkshire ended day one on 64 for two.
