Extraordinary Run Chase By Second XI

The Durham Second XI had mixed results when they took on Yorkshire in two T20 matches at York yesterday.

The day was highlighted by the result in match two with Durham chasing down 237 in 19.3 overs to record a remarkable victory after going down in the first match earlier in the day.

Playing on an excellent pitch at York CC with a short boundary on the one side the day started with a three wicket loss in a high scoring affair.

Losing the toss and batting first Durham posted 195-3 with the innings highlighted by a 140 run partnership between Latham (105 from 61) and Muchall (49 from 39).

With such a big total on the board Durham should have been able to defend the total but Yorkshire chased it down with an over to spare, seven wickets down.

Jamie Harrison was the pick of the Durham bowlers taking 3-24 and Max Morely took 1-30.

Game two saw another run-fest with Yorkshire batting first this time posting a mammoth 237-2 in their 20 overs.

In an extraordinary run chase, Durham were able to chase the runs down with three balls to spare with just 3 wickets down, finishing on 240-3 off 19.3 overs.

The Durham innings was contributed by Singh (93 from 44), Arshad (56 from 29), Muchall (66* from 34) and Wallace (19 from 9).
