England come calling for Durham teenagers

With Graham Onions currently touring India with the England Test squad, there has been another International call at Emirates Durham this week.

Courtney Coulson who plays for Shotley Bridge Cricket Club and Athena Fernyhough from Willington CC have been called up to the England Girls under 15 training programme. Both Girls also represent Durham Cricket Board Womens team.

Courtney will be hoping to follow in the footsteps of another former Shotley Bridge CC player, Paul Collingwood in earning International honours for England.

Should the under 15 training programme go well; both girls will go through to selection sessions in the New Year that could earn a place in the England Womens under19 Squad.
Courtney and Athena will also be part of the Durham Cricket Board under 19 Girls squad who will be touring Dubai in February to take part in the under19 Arch Trophy.

The girls are aiming to raise funds to subsidise the trip, with each girl having to raise £1,500 through various activities, including band nights, car washes, bag packing and other events. The girls are still looking for further fundraising opportunities.
