Emirates Riverside set to host music double-header this summer

Durham Cricket is delighted to announce that legendary DJ Pete Tong and English pop rock outfit Tears for Fears will perform huge outdoor gigs at Emirates Riverside this summer.

Both acts will perform in Chester-le-Street on consecutive days with Tong and his Heritage Orchestra performing their Ibiza Classics show on Friday, July 26 and Tears for Fears’ iconic duo of Roland Orzabal and Curt Smith performing the following night, Saturday, July 27.

The scintillating music double-header follows on from Pete Tong’s huge sold out UK tour and Tears for Fears’ sell-out arena run in North America with Hall and Oates, plus their standout sets at “British Summer Time” in Hyde Park.

While Tong is renowned for being the famous voice of Radio 1’s dance programming, Tears for Fears have offered influences to a number of artists and have been sampled by Kanye West, Drake and David Guetta.

“Ibiza Classics has got bigger and better each year,” Tong said.

“2019 is no exception. Expect a bigger production, more special guests and some of the best tracks to come out of Ibiza in the past 20 years.”

Liz Doogan-Hobbs MBE, CEO of LHG Live, added: “Tears for Fears have amassed fans across the globe and across the decades and continue to enthral through their unequivocal catalogue of hits.

“We’re absolutely delighted to be working with them this summer and to be bringing yet another fantastic concert to Durham. Emirates Riverside is a beautiful venue and we look forward to an incredible evening at the ground.”

Tickets for both concerts will go on general sale on March 8, with Tears for Fears tickets available from ticketmaster.co.uk from 9am and Pete Tong tickets available from ticketline.co.uk at 10am.
