Emirates hits six with new Durham Twenty20 team sponsorship

The agreement with the Durham Dynamos runs from the start of the Twenty20 season this summer until the end of the tournament in 2015.

Emirates stepped up to the crease to support the Durham Dynamos last year and under the extended arrangement the familiar ‘Fly Emirates’ logo will again be displayed on the team’s shirts.

Laurie Berryman, Emirates’ Area Manager UK North, commented, “We are delighted to announce an extension of the agreement with the Durham CCC Twenty20 team as the players gear up for what will surely be another exciting season. We are keen to develop a longer term relationship with the club in view of our deepening ties with the North East of England and our well known passion for sports.”

CEO of Durham County Cricket Club, David Harker, added, “We look forward to working with Emirates again during 2010 and beyond and playing a pivotal role in promoting the association to cricket fans and the wider North Eastern community alike.”

Emirates is committed to sports sponsorship around the world and has been for more than twenty years. The Durham County Cricket sponsorship is part of an extensive cricket portfolio.  In addition to its Official partnership with the ICC until 2015, Emirates is official sponsor of the ICC Elite Panel of Umpires, the Pro Arch Trophy, the Lord’s Taverners, and the forthcoming World Twenty20 in the West Indies later this month.

The airline started daily flights from Newcastle to its hub in Dubai back in September 2007. Passengers travelling through Newcastle International Airport will also see Emirates’ sponsorship of the airport’s control tower.
