Eckersley makes ton in Scotland games

Wicketkeeper-batsman Ned Eckersley scored a century as the Seconds chalked up a win & a defeat in two 50-over friendlies against Scotland ‘A’ at South North CC.

Eckersley’s century came in the second match as Durham defended a score of 354/6 to win by 94 runs.

There were also significant contributions from Ryan Pringle (77*), Stuart Poynter (61) & Josh Coughlin (44).

The bulk of the runs came in an 118-run stand between Poynter & Eckersley before Pringle teed off late on, adding five maximums in his knock off just 45 balls.

Scotland’s reply started well with former Durham man Kyle Coetzer but regular wickets derailed their chase, with Pringle picking up three.

On Monday, they fell to a close eight-run defeat after failing to chase down Scotland’s 306/7.

Michael Richardson, Will Smith & Cameron Steel all added fifties while Graham Clark made 48. Josh Coughlin impressed with the ball, taking 3/43.
