ECB to Stream Women’s Ashes Match from Lords

The ECB will stream the Women’s Ashes NatWest ODI fixture at Lord’s on Tuesday August 20th live on its website and official YouTube channel – the first time that the governing body has streamed a non-televised fixture live on its digital platforms.

Commentary will be provided by former England players turned broadcasters Isa Guha and Mark Butcher, alongside broadcaster and journalist Alison Mitchell.

This summer, the ECB has been streaming the Investec Ashes Series live on its YouTube channel to more than 50 countries across mainland Europe and North America. In 2013, the channel has received over 5 million views of its video content worldwide, 2.4 million of these being Investec Ashes Series content. The governing body’s channel also offers highlights of every Investec Test, NatWest ODI & T20, LV= County Championship and Yorkshire Bank 40 matches, as well as behind-the-scenes features and player interviews.

The Women’s Ashes Series comprises one Test match (which was drawn last week), three NatWest Women’s One-Day Internationals, and three NatWest Women’s International Twenty20 matches. Points are allocated to each format – two points go to the winners of each limited overs matches, with the teams earning two points each from the drawn Test. The team that accrues the most points across all formats will win the Women’s Ashes Series and be presented with the Women’s Ashes trophy.

The three NatWest Women’s International T20 matches will be broadcast live on Sky Sports with the latter two being played directly before the men’s fixtures, and all seven fixtures will be covered live on BBC Radio. The ECB’s website will provide live score updates and video highlights of every day’s play.

Captain Charlotte Edwards said: “It’s great news that our NatWest Women’s ODI at Lord’s will be live streamed exclusively on the ECB website and YouTube channel. It’s fantastic to see ECB showcasing International women’s cricket in this way and I’m delighted that one of our games in this exciting Ashes Series will be the first to be live streamed on the ECB website. Playing at Lord’s is always special, it’s something every player should embrace.”

The match begins at 10:45 BST on Tuesday 20 August, with coverage beginning at 10:30 BST – live on www.ecb.co.uk/video and www.youtube.com/ecbcricket (direct link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=P0bAAas3Zgs)
