Dynamos claim thrilling victory over the Bears

Ian Blackwell (79) and Ross Taylor (64) put on a record t20 stand of 133, the first time two batsmen have scored fifties in an innings.

Durham struck early in the Warwickshire innings sending Trott back to the pavilion for just three.  Ian Bell (80) and Troughton (33) looked to be steering the Bears towards victory until two carbon copy catches from Gareth Breese off the bowling of Stephen Harmison in the 16th over left Warwickshire 161-4.

With three overs remaining the side needed to find 41 runs to claim victory, Harmison came on to bowl the final over, with the hosts needing 24 runs, but any glimpse of achieving the total disappeared as Harmison picked up two further wickets, sealing the Dynamos first win in the competition this year.

durhamccc.co.uk spoke to Man of the Match, Ian Blackwell, at the close of play, “It was a great performance, first and foremost we needed to get a win under our belt.  Even though we went for 10 an over and conceded two hundred we obviously scored more than them today and managed to get two points on the board which is good.

“Ross came in and played some unbelievable shots to get us up to 110 before he was out and we went to pass 200 so we’re pleased.  We do talk about partnerships, Yorkshire had a great partnership on Thursday and we needed to establish our own, if we can do that and not lose wickets , we can post big scores.

“We’ll go to the next game full of confidence now and the belief that we can get on a roll and pick up another win. It was important for us to get on the scoreboard, there are 16 games and we didn’t want to stay on that downward spiral which we’d out started out on.  Hopefully the win on Friday will help kick us off so we can go and get another win at Derby on Sunday. “
