Durham thank stakeholders for their support

Durham County Cricket Club would like to take this opportunity to thank its partners and supporters for the extraordinary efforts that have been put in to try to get some play.

Durham CCC would like to thank the ECB, the pitches consultant, Chris Wood, and the match umpires (Nigel Llong and Peter Hartley) for liaising with the Club during the last few difficult days.

Thanks should also be passed to our own groundstaff who have worked tirelessly throughout the last week to try and keep on top of the difficult conditions.

A number of the Club’s suppliers have also been extremely supportive by allowing us to be flexible on delivery and by being on standby in the event that the weather improved.   Brambledown had installed protective matting behind the stands to reduce the effects of flooding in walkways.

Over the last week the Club has had offers of support from a number of its close partners.  Where the Club already had Park and Ride locations secured, in Birtley and Belmont, further spaces were made available and Rainton Arena and Lambton Park offered us two additional locations to establish more options for spectators.  Go Ahead Northern offered us additional buses to assist with the growing operation which was especially important as so many parking spaces at the ground are flooded.

All in all it has been a demanding few days in which the Club did everything in its power to stage a game, in spite of the incessant rainfall.
