Durham team news and injury update v Yorkshire

Durham CCC travel to Leeds this week to take on Yorkshire CCC at Headingley Carnegie with Stephen Harmison (lower forearm) and Mark Stoneman (hand) absent having picked up injuries in the opening round of the competition [More info at the foot of page].

Head Coach Geoff Cook has named 12 man squad which sees Will Smith coming in to replace the opener with Mitchell Claydon and Graham Onions in contention for the remaining bowling spot.

On the selection Geoff Cook said, “It’s a real shame to lose Mark and Stephen but these things happen in sport and we’re lucky enough to have depth to our squad which gives two other players the chance to come in and make an impact.

“It’s great to welcome Graham back into the squad, he’s worked incredibly hard throughout his rehabilitation but it’s important that we time his return to the field in the LV= County Championship correctly.  There is a lot of four day cricket over the next two months and we need to make sure we bring him in at the right time.”
