Durham stars were nominated as best performers in an unprecedented five out of eight separate categories in the magazine’s annual Readers’ Poll.
Winners included:
• Bowler of the season; Ottis Gibson
• Fielder of the season: Paul Collingwood – for the third year running
• Wicketkeeper of the season: Phil Mustard
• All rounder of the season: Ottis Gibson
• Coach/manager of the season: Geoff Cook
Skipper Dale Benkenstein narrowly missed out on making it an amazing six out of eight nominations when he was pipped by Chris Adams as Captain of the season.
TWC editor John Stern said: “I can’t remember another poll where one county has been so dominant in the player of the season section. Our readers are serious cricket fans who follow the county game closely, so their views are a great reflection on a fantastic season for everyone at Durham.”
