Durham sign Dixon on loan

Durham County Cricket Club is pleased to announce the signing of Essex’s Matt Dixon on loan.

The Australian pace-bowler – who holds a British passport – will join up with the Durham squad in time for their County Championship fixture against Derbyshire this Friday (May 11) and will be available for both the red ball and RL50 competitions during his month long stay with the club.

Dixon signed for Essex at the beginning of the club’s 2016 campaign and was part of the side that won the Division Two title, taking nine first class wickets in his debut season.

Durham County Cricket Club, Head Coach, Jon Lewis, said: “I’m looking forward to welcoming Matt into our squad and believe he can add depth and pace to our current group.”

The Perth-born bowler has previously represented Australia U17 & U19 and also featured for the Perth Scorchers in the Big Bash.

The 25-year-old has taken 27 wickets in 12 First Class games and seven wickets in 11 List A appearances.
