Durham Second XI share the points with Derbyshire as lightning strikes at Hartlepool

Weather denied Durham Second XI a result in both T20s against Derbyshire at Hartlepool, with wickets for Luke Robinson and runs for George Drissell.   

Game one (Tuesday 2 June): Durham 2XI 11/2 (2.3) v Derbyshire 2XI 180/6

George Drissell won the toss and elected to field first but Durham got off on the wrong foot with the visitors coming out of the powerplay 75 for one.

Yousaf Bin Naeem got the Falcons off to a flyer with 33 from 18 balls including four sixes before Luke Robinson had him caught in the fourth over with 46 on the board.

Harry Came and Luis Reece put on 43 in 31 balls before Shafiqullah Ghafari claimed Durham’s second with Haydon Mustard catching a thin edge.

Robinson picked up his third dismissing Reece for 37 from 21 with Derbyshire 108/3.

The Ds then took wickets in back-to-back overs as Duanne Olivier and Ghafari claimed one pole each with the visitors reduced to 129/5.

After a 30-run stand Robinson had his third in the penultimate over but Brooke Guest’s unbeaten 40 led Derbyshire to a total of 180 from their 20 overs.

Alan Walker’s side had lost two early wickets before lightning struck at Hartlepool after 2.3 overs in the second innings with Durham 11/2 and the players did not return to the field.

Game two (Wednesday 3 June): Durham 2XI 53/2 (5.4) v Derbyshire 2XI N/A

Drissell elected to bat second time around and helped Durham off to a fast start with 30 off 18 balls despite the early loss of Minto.

Matthew Stewart dismissed the opening pair to leave the hosts 42 for two.

Robbie Bowman and Haydon Mustard added a further 11 before rain brought the players off the field at Park Drive after 5.4 overs with not further play deemed possible.
