Wickets for Daniel Hogg and George Drissell but Durham Second XI fall to heavy defeat against Nottinghamshire at Darlington. 

The visitors resumed the third day on 147 for three but Duanne Olivier struck with the first ball of the day to get Durham off to a good start.

Hogg and Drissell then claimed three scalps apiece as Nottinghamshire were all out for 245 in their second innings with a lead of 378.

Drissell took figures of 3/47 in 17 overs while Hogg’s 4/40 from 11 overs were Durham’s best of the match.

Jonathan Bushnell top scored with 38 while Drissell added 37 but Durham made just 171, falling to defeat by 207.

 

Day 2: Durham Second XI 202 v Nottinghamshire 335 & 147/3

Luke Symington scores unbeaten 93 but Nottinghamshire enjoy the better of day two at Darlington Cricket Club.

Resuming on 23 for one and trailing by 312, Durham lost both Jim Twiddy and Colin Ackermann early falling 33 for three.

George Drissell put on 45 with Symington to steady things but a steady of flow wickets saw the hosts seven down before reaching 150.

Symington continued to defy the visitors as he struck 15 fours in his 166-ball innings but he eventually ran out of partners with the score on 202 as the visitors gained a 133-run lead.

Tom Giles claimed three scalps for Nottinghamshire while there were two apiece for Dom Kelly, Byron Hatton-Lowe and Josh Croom.

Daniel Hogg made an early breakthrough for Durham but Travis Holland scored a quickfire 44 and Farhan Ahmed passed 50 for the second time in the match.

James Minto picked up one of two further wickets as both batters fell but Nottinghamshire closed on 147/3 with a lead of 280.

Durham Second XI enjoyed a positive day with the ball, dismissing Nottinghamshire for 335 at Darlington Cricket Club.

Daniel Hogg got Durham off to a strong start after Haydon Mustard elected to bowl first at Feethams, dislodging off stump twice to reduce the visitors to 20 for two.

Farhan Ahmed and Henry Rogers put on 96 for the third wicket before James Minto took off peg out of the ground for the third occasion to dismiss Rogers on 29.

Ahmed struck 14 fours as he made 78 before departing with the score on 150.

JA Beer’s 58 and 36 for Dominic Kelly alongside him saw Notts pass 200 but the fall of four wickets inside nine overs had them 234 for eight.

Two late partnerships saw Nottinghamshire post 335 in the end with SM Sheikh ending unbeaten on 42 while Travis Holland added 39.

Wickets were spread around in the Durham attack with Daniel Hogg taking 3/48 while George Drissell and Shafiqullah Ghafari took two apiece.

Alan Walker’s side had eight overs to bat on the opening day, closing on 23 for one with Haydon Mustard the only wicket to fall.
