Durham prepare for Sedbergh trip

Sedbergh will become the latest ground to host first-class cricket tomorrow when Durham travel to face Lancashire starting tomorrow (Sunday 30 June) in the Specsavers County Championship.

The picturesque ground, which is a regular for Cumberland’s Minor County side, will become Lancashire’s 13th first-class home venue but James Franklin’s side will be in no mood to let them enjoy a celebratory beginning.

An exceptional 196-run win over Sussex earlier this week made it three unbeaten in the Championship, lifting Durham off the foot of the table & they travel to Cumbria in confident mood.

Franklin has made one change & made one addition, meaning a 14-man squad will make the trip.

Josh Coughlin drops out of the squad through injury which saw him miss the Second XI Trophy final at Kent on Thursday.

Ryan Pringle replaces him, providing an extra potential spin option & power to the batting order, while Nathan Rimmington is included for the first time this season.

Rimmington is the Seconds’ second-highest wicket-taker this season, just behind Coughlin, and has taken his nine wickets at an average of just over 13.

Lancashire are likely to field ex-Durham men Graham Onions & Keaton Jennings in their side for the first meeting between the two teams since a thriller at Southport in 2016, which Durham won by two wickets in the final session on Day Four.

Squad vs Lancashire (30 June - 3 July)

Cameron Bancroft (c), Alex Lees, Gareth Harte, Graham Clark, Jack Burnham, Liam Trevaskis, Ryan Pringle, Ned Eckersley, Stuart Poynter, Ben Raine, Brydon Carse, James Weighell, Nathan Rimmington, Chris Rushworth
