Durham pick up Best PR Team Support Award

The aim of the club at the start of the season was to provide a constant and consistent point of contact for players and the media to help promote the county in a positive manner as well as developing the website content, providing ‘as it happens’ match reports and Tweets for online supporters as well as uploading post match interviews.

This has resulted in a Media Manager travelling with the team throughout the season with responsibilities including managing media requests, uploading match reports and interviews on to the website after each day’s play as well as the introduction of Durham TV.

The judging panel praised the media set up at the Club and said that “it should be used as a blueprint for the other counties”.

The judging panel was made up of Alistair Gammell, a consultant for London based marketing agency, The Team, David Malkinson, Marketing Manager at The Football League, and David Collier, Chief Executive of the ECB.

Durham were shortlisted for seven awards on the night, including Best design in a campaign for our Twenty20 Cup marketing, Best use of PR to promote a domestic competition for offering free admission to spectators for our match against Nottinghamshire to support our bid to win the Championship, Best use of Digital Media for our Twenty20 Virals and Best use of PR to promote a corporate message for Durham County Cricket Foundation, demonstrating the high level of marketing across the board at the Club.

Keep an eye out for ‘A day with….”, our latest feature on the website for the winter months – starting with our Media Manager, Yvette Thompson.
