The pair joined by Durhams’s Mark Stoneman, Liam Plunkett, Uzair Mahomed and Mitch Claydon are raising their cups to encourage local people to hold their own tea party from June 12 to July 12, to raise money for the charity. All tea parties, however big or small, will help provide thousands of hours of free Marie Curie Nursing care for local people with terminal illnesses in their own homes and help The Marie Curie Hospice in Newcastle to provide free specialist care to people with terminal illnesses.
Dorothy Winter said: “Do you know that we drink 165 million cups of tea each day? If we had one pound for every cup, it would cover the cost of Marie Curie Cancer Care’s free nationwide nursing service for seven years. So I’m appealing to local people to raise your cup with me and join the fun of the Blooming Great Tea Party today. Your tea party will make such a difference to thousands of people in the charity’s 60th anniversary year”
