As it happened…

Worcestershire Rapids Innings- 144 all out.

19th over: Worcestershire Rapids 144 all out. ALL OVER! Rushworth runs out Saeed Ajmal to seal an emphatic victory for the Jets! A great start to the NatWest T20 Blast – a win over the Rapids by 29 runs.

18th over: Worcestershire Rapids 131-9. WICKET! Just one more wicket away from victory now, as Arshad tempts Cox to try and clear the ropes but MacLeod trots in and takes a simple catch from deep midwicket. Two overs remain, an unlikely 43 needed.

17th over: Worcestershire Rapids 126-8. WICKET! Breese claims a second victim as a desperate heave from Shantry is caught by Borthwick on the boundary. SIX! Nice shot from Saeed Ajmal though, who creams the ball towards the electronic scoreboard for a maximum. Breese finishes with 2-26 from his four overs. 48 to win from just three overs.

16th over: Worcestershire Rapids 115-7. The beautiful May evening sunshine here at Emirates Durham ICG is being enjoyed by the crowd as the Jets close in on a first win of the new NatWest T20 Blast season. Arshad concedes eight, largely thanks to a square drive from Cox, but the Rapids need far more productive overs.

15th over: Worcestershire Rapids 107-7. WICKET! The Jets are on the brink of victory now as Whiteley perishes. The left hander tries to smash Breese out of the park but only picks out Borthwick at long off. The required rate is over 13 runs per over now.

14th over: Worcestershire Rapids 103-6. Collingwood bowls a couple of slower deliveries but they are picked by the batsmen and Whiteley dabs the ball away and collects three runs. Whiteley then strikes the final ball of Collingwood’s spell for four but it fails to spoil some fantastic figures of 3-29. 71 needed to win.

13th over: Worcestershire Rapids 94-6. The runs have dried up for the visitors and the required rate has crept up to over 11 an over now. Cox (7*) and Whiteley (10*) are the two batsmen. 80 runs to win from seven overs.

12th over: Worcestershire Rapids 86-6 AND ANOTHER WICKET! There are two players competing for the man of the match award tonight – Calum MacLeod for his 80* and Paul Collingwood for a quickfire 62 and three wickets! He bangs the ball in short and Kervezee top edges a pull shot, allowing Rushworth to run back and take the catch at midwicket. Collingwood’s last ball is steered away for four but his three overs have gone for just 20.

11th over: Worcestershire Rapids 77-5. ANOTHER WICKET! The batsmen try to run two but Arshad’s throw from the boundary is good – he chucks the ball to the bowler, Borthwick, and the spinner hits the stumps at the wicketkeeper’s end and Kohler-Cadmore goes for just 1. The required run rate is now nearly 11 an over

10th over: Worcestershire Rapids 72-4. Collingwood is bowling very economically now and suddenly WICKET! What a catch! Gordon Muchall dives low to his right at long off to pull off a stunning catch to get rid of Oliver for 43.

9th over: Worcestershire Rapids 68-3. Gareth Breese comes into the attack and the experienced spinner concedes just three runs to stem the Rapids yet further. The run rate is creeping up towards 10 an over now.

8th over: Worcestershire Rapids 64-3. DROPPED! Gordon Muchall races in from long on but can’t cling on as Oliver skies a ball from Paul Collingwood. WICKET! But Collingwood then gets rid of Munro who scoops a catch straight to Stoneman, who gleefully accepts the chance in the covers. The attendance tonight is 2,633 at Emirates Durham ICG, it’s been a great night so far and the Rapids require 110 to win.

7th over: Worcestershire Rapids 57-2. WICKET! Another bowling change does the trick as Scott Borthwick traps Daryl Mitchell LBW with his first delivery. Kiwi International Colin Munro is the new man in for the Rapids but it’s a miserly over from Borthwick, with just four runs coming from it.

6th over: Worcestershire Rapids 53-1. Three boundaries in a row! The left handed Oliver waits for a delivery from Rushworth and executes a neat late cut to bring him four. He then slashes outside the off-stump and finds the rope again as the ball goes looping over the infield. Rushworth drops the next ball short and it’s easy for Oliver to pull the ball away for another four. That’s the end of the powerplay overs. 121 runs to win at 8.6 runs per over.

5th over: Worcestershire Rapids 40-1. WICKET! Usman Arshad strikes with his first delivery, removing the dangerous Ali for 21. The left hander top edged a shot and MacLeod, continuing his memorable evening, takes the catch running in from deep midwicket. Arshad is then struck for two boundaries – ah, the highs and lows of T20 cricket! The Rapids require a further 134 to win at 8.9 runs per over.

4th over: Worcestershire Rapids 32-0. SHOT! Impressive from Ali, who leans back and cuts the ball high over the offside fielders for four. He then hits another boundary off the next delivery, this time on the legside, with a flick of the wrists.

3rd over: Worcestershire Rapids 21-0. The Rapids pair look to attack against young off spinner Ryan Pringle. Ali finds the offside boundary and Oliver does the same from Pringle’s final delivery to ensure that the Jets concede an expensive over.

2nd over: Worcestershire Rapids 9-0. Mark Wood bowls the second over and concedes a boundary thanks to a firm straight drive from Richard Oliver. That’s the only scoring shot though, so a good start from Wood.

1st over: Worcestershire Rapids 5-0. A tidy first over from Chris Rushworth. Moeen Ali chips a drive just over the head of Stoneman at extra cover, as the Jets come close to an early breakthrough.

Durham Jets Innings – 173-4 (MacLeod 80*, Collingwood 62)

20th over: Durham Jets 173- 4. The batsmen scramble a two as Muchall steers the ball down to long on. SIX! MacLeod heaves Ajmal towards deep midwicket and although the fielder leapt and got two hands to it, he only succeeded in tipping it over the rope. MacLeod digs out a single to finish on 80 not out. Muchall sweetly drives the final ball for four to finish on 14. A great recovery from 33-3 and a superb debut from Calum MacLeod.

19th over: Durham Jets 158-4. Gordon Muchall, one half of the ‘G-Force’ beneficiary, is the new man and he cuts the ball away for two to bring up the 150. The next delivery he swipes to the leg side and it’s hit so well that the scampering fielder can’t reach it. Final over coming up! Muchall has 9, MacLeod 70.

18th over: Durham Jets 148-4. Saeed Ajmal is a very clever bowler and he finally accounts for Collingwood. The former England man tries to slap the ball away to the leg side but the ball hits the top edge of the blade and spoons up in the air, allowing Mitchell to take a simple catch.

17th over: Durham Jets 143-3. Take cover in the stands! It’s raining sixes! Shantry is this time dispatched over the leg side fence by Collingwood. The crowd are really enjoying some thrilling batting now as these two continue to gain momentum. Four more runs are taking off the over as the Jets close in on the 150 mark.

16th over: Durham Jets 133-3. Another 50! Collingwood brings up his half-century in style as he smashes Mitchell over long-on for six! It took Collingwood just 30 balls to register his 50 and it’s included 5x4s and 2x6s. SHOT! MacLeod then joins in the fun with a big six over mid-wicket and then shows a deft touch as he paddle sweeps the ball away for another boundary. That’s the century partnership too, a great recovery.

15th over: Durham Jets 114-3. 50! A wonderful debut from Calum MacLeod, who reaches his half-century from just 40 balls. He has hit six boundaries in his innings and brought up his 50 with a scampered two.

14th over: Durham Jets 107-3. Collingwood is really showing his quality now. A swept four is followed up by some good footwork and a crisp shot down to the long on boundary. That shot brings up the 100 and the pair have put on 74 so far for the 4th wicket. MacLeod has 48, Collingwood catching him up on 44.

13th over: Durham Jets 95-3. These two batsmen are running between the wickets well and obviously have a good understanding. They pick up two early in Munro’s over as the score ticks towards 100. DROPPED! Munro opts to go around the wicket, Collingwood slaps a leg side shot towards Shantry at square leg but the fielder can’t hold on – it was a tough chance.

12th over: Durham Jets 88-3. MacLeod tries a switch hit but Mitchell anticipates it and bowls a slow (very slow infact) delivery that the Scottish batsman can’t reach. A few chuckles from the crowd here at Emirates Durham ICG. SIX! Collingwood gets down on one knee and slog sweeps Mitchell over the diving fielder at deep midwicket. That’s the first six of the game so far. MacLeod has 41, Collingwood 32.

11th over: Durham Jets 77-3. New Zealand International Colin Munro comes into the attack and very nearly gets a wicket in his first over. Collingwood smashes a drive that ricochets off Munro and hits MacLeod at the non-strikers end. Collingwood then connects sweetly with an extra cover drive to add further punishment to the medium pacer.

10th over: Durham Jets. 69-3. SHOT! Ali has switched ends but is swept away first ball for four by Collingwood, who pierces the gap between two deep fielders. MacLeod then gets down on one knee and scoops a shot over the reaches of short fine leg for another four. Excellent over – 12 from it. MacLeod has 36, Collingwood 18.

9th over: Durham Jets 57-3. Pakistan International spinner Saeed Ajmal is into the attack. He’s a real dangerman for the Rapids and MacLeod is watchful as he sweeps him away for a single. The visitors even have a slip in place but Collingwood goes on the attack and slog sweeps Ajmal away for a much needed boundary.

8th over: Durham Jets 51-3. A cheeky little reverse paddle-sweep from Collingwood brings him one run off the bowling of new bowler Mitchell. Mitchell is taking a lot of pace off the ball and with the field spread, it’s hard to get away. Collingwood manages to grab a couple of runs off the final delivery though.

7th over: Durham Jets 45-3. Paul Collingwood, who coached Calum MacLeod during his spell working with Scotland, is now at the crease. Collingwood nudges a single and MacLeod then slaps Morris away towards cow corner. Ali gets a hand to the ball as it trickles towards the rope, but can’t stop it going for four. SHOT! MacLeod then shows his range of strokeplay as he dances out of his crease and drives the bowler through extra cover. Beautiful! MacLeod now has 27.

6th over: Durham Jets 34-3. Shantry is now into his third over and is punished for dropping short again as Borthwick heaves him away for four on the leg side. But then WICKET! The very next ball Borthwick tries a similar shot but mis-times it and Kohler-Cadmore takes the catch at mid-on.

5th over: Durham Jets 28-2. SHOT! MacLeod’s confidence will be boosted by three boundaries in the last two overs. He cuts new bowler Charlie Morris for four before then trying an impish ramp shot which pays dividends. A productive over. MacLeod has raced to 17.

4th over: Durham Jets 17-2. Shantry, with a slightly unusual action, continues to bowl his left arm medium pacers. Keeper Ben Cox decides to stand up to the stumps and Shantry bowls a short ball that MacLeod dispatches emphatically for four! Pulled away through wide mid-wicket. MacLeod now has 8, Borthwick 6.

3rd over: Durham Jets 10-2. Scott Borthwick is the new man as Ali continues his spell. Borthwick uses his feet to good effect as he plays a lovely off-drive back over the bowler’s head for a one-bounce four. First boundary!

2nd over: Durham Jets 4-2. Stoneman picks up a run before MacLeod takes a couple of balls to have a look before pushing a single to mid-on. WICKET! Jack Shantry bangs the ball in short, skipper Stoneman top edges a pull shot and Ali runs in from the deep square leg boundary to take the catch.

1st over: Durham Jets 2-1. Off-spinner Moeen Ali opens the bowling from the Lumley End. The England International is bowling his off-spinners from around the wicket and is nudged for a couple of singles before WICKET! Mustard shuffles across his stumps and is hit on the pad. The opener goes for just 1, and debutant Calum MacLeod comes to the crease.

0 overs: We’ve had the warm-ups, a mascot race and lots of other entertainment – the teams are now ready to emerge. Worcestershire have won the toss and Daryl Mitchell has elected to bowl first.
