Durham Head Coach Ryan Campbell to Share Coaching Insights at Exclusive Foundation Workshop

Durham Cricket Head Coach Ryan Campbell will headline one of a series of specialist workshops hosted by Durham Cricket Foundation this autumn, giving local coaches the rare opportunity to learn directly from one of the sport’s most respected figures.

Campbell, who became Durham’s Head Coach in December 2022, will lead a session titled Nurturing Talent, focused on how to coach and develop cricketers both technically and mentally. He will also demonstrate innovative batting practices that are shaping the modern game, before taking questions from attending coaches.

Speaking about his approach to coaching, Campbell reflects: “My love of cricket has given me a fantastic life, firstly as a professional player and now as a coach. My belief is that sport is a reflection of life – it will give you challenges, it will ask questions of your courage and beliefs, and it will truly test who you really are.”

The Australian, who represented both Australia and Western Australia during his playing career, has an impressive coaching background, including roles at Kowloon Cricket Club in Hong Kong and as Head Coach of the Netherlands men’s national team.

Durham Cricket Foundation’s workshop series aims to equip coaches across the North East with new tools, insights and practical skills to take back to their clubs and players. Alongside Campbell’s session, the line-up includes:

  • A Coaches’ Toolkit – Tony Robson
Led by Tony Robson, a former ECB Coach Developer with more than 20 years as an ECB tutor, this session will cover everything from effective use of equipment to body language, enthusiasm, and how to keep indoor programmes engaging.
  • Coaching Club WK – Cole Pearce
Delivered by Durham Academy Performance coach Cole Pearce, this workshop will focus on the fundamentals of wicketkeeping, combining demonstrations with practical learning for coaches.

The workshops form part of the Foundation’s commitment to strengthening the grassroots game by supporting those who coach, nurture and inspire the next generation of cricketers.

The workshops will take place at Belmont Community School, The Links, Durham DH1 2AG, on the following dates. Register your place now:
