Hamilton – Brown was the pick of the Sussex bowlers claiming the wickets of top scorer Will Smith (65), Gareth Breese (16) and Callum Thorp (2) for 37 runs in 8.2 overs.

Durham posted a total of 192 for Sussex Sharks to chase in their innings.

Mitchell Claydon made the breakthough Durham had been looking for, dismissing Gatting (48) in the 29th over leaving Sussex 117-1.  Liam Plunkett caught Luke Wright (28) in the 29th over off the bowling of Ian Blackwell – Somerset were 171-2 with 10 overs remaining.

Ed Joyce pushed Sussex over the target with a four, bringing up his century – and subsequently earned himself the Man of the Match accolade.

Durham captain Will Smith said, “Yesterday [against Sussex] we didn’t perform too well either but we managed to sneak a win at the end and I had hoped that would give us a bit of momentum and a bit of belief, but it just never quite happened today.  We’re still not out of the competition by any stretch.  We lost three in a row last year and we topped the group so it does just go to show you can get back on track.  Sometimes it just takes one game and one little bit of luck and I thought yesterday was going to really kick us on, but I think all the emotion of yesterday really took it out of everyone.
