Durham duo set for NZ t20 debuts

Blackwell joins up with Dynamos 2010 overseas t20 signing Ross Taylor’s side, Central Districts, while Claydon will head to Canterbury where former Durham spinner Paul Wiseman is based.   The competition starts on 2nd December and the pair will square up on 10 December when the two sides meet at the Saxton Oval.

Ian Blackwell said, ““The opportunity to play t20 in New Zealand is one that I couldn’t turn down and it’ll be great to get more time in the middle playing this format. I want to improve my game and in turn step up and bring the experience back to Durham so we can push on in the FPt20 in 2011. “

Mitchell Claydon added, ““This is a great chance for me to develop my t20 skills – I love this format of the game and any chance I get to play during the winter can only improve my contribution to Durham Dynamos performances in the t20 next season. I’m really looking forward to getting more limited overs cricket under my belt and with a bit of luck I’ll come out with bragging rights when we play Central Districts!”

Durham CCC Chief Executive, David Harker, commented, “We have under performed  in t20 and naturally we’re keen to improve in this format so when the opportunity arose for Ian and Mitchell to obtain more experience in the 20 over game, we were pleased to be able to support their loan to their respective sides.”
