Durham Cricket season update

As Durham prepare to host Yorkshire at Emirates Riverside in the Bob Willis Trophy this weekend, we wanted to provide an update on the current situation.

Unfortunately, despite our best efforts, we won’t be able to welcome members and supporters back to the ground at this present time. The current guidelines and restrictions in place mean the match has to be played behind closed doors.

However, we are hopeful that Emirates Riverside could be selected as a test venue for spectators in time for our game against Lancashire on Saturday 8 August. This is an ongoing situation and we hope to have news on future fixtures soon.

Following changes to restrictions in Leicester, our fixture against Leicestershire starting on Saturday 15 August, will now be played at The Fischer County Ground.

On the field, the club can confirm that Farhaan Behardien will be available for Durham this season. The South African’s arrival, along with other overseas players across the country, has been delayed due to visa delays caused by the current circumstances. However, we hope to see him in a Durham shirt in the not to distant future.

Unfortunately, due to the current situation, Cameron Bancroft won’t be playing for Durham this season. An agreement has been made for the Australia to stay at home for the remainder of the domestic summer in England. We do hope to see Bancroft in a Durham shirt in the future and wish him all the best for the Australian season.

Fixtures for the 2020 Vitality Blast are expected to be released next week. We are hopeful that spectators will be allowed to attend these games and hospitality packages will also be available.

15-18 August v Leicestershire County Cricket Club- The Fischer County Ground
